The Huaneng Yantai Power Plant's 2×SGT5-4000F heavy-duty gas turbine project has achieved
On January 1, 2026, Unit 2 successfully completed a 168-hour continuous full-load test run assessment. As of now, both units of the Huaneng Yantai Gas Turbine Project have been put into operation, achieving "dual operation" (both units in operation). This marks the completion of Huaneng's first gas turbine project in Shandong. On November 29, 2025, Unit 1 successfully completed a 168-hour continuous full-load test run.
The Huaneng Yantai Gas Turbine Project is a gas-steam combined cycle power generation project constructed by Huaneng Shandong Branch in Yantai. It is a demonstration project for heavy-duty gas turbine units during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period in Shandong Province and the first heavy-duty gas turbine project in Yantai City. The project is constructed with the core principle of "balanced green construction and creating a dual-excellence project". Its construction period and overall performance have certain characteristics among domestic units of the same type and period. The project has been selected as one of the first batch of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) pilot projects for electric power engineering by the China Electric Power Construction Enterprise Association.

The gas turbine inlet and exhaust systems for both units of this project are provided by Jiangsu Huaqiang New Energy. Based in the power auxiliary equipment industry, Huaqiang New Energy has continuously deepened its main business and made technological innovations in core components of gas turbines, new energy, and other fields. It has promoted the implementation of more major domestic projects and products, ensuring the steady progress of industrial chain construction.
